“The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, lke the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning. The weeks that come before are only a climb from balmy spring, and those that follow a drop to the chill of autumn, but the first week of August is motionless, and hot. It is curiously silent, too, with blank white dawns and glaring noons, and sunsets smeared with too much color. Often at night there is lightning, but it quivers all alone.” – Natalie Babbitt
For today's Motivation Monday post, we are saying goodbye to the month of July and hello to the month of August. Because it's a new month, we will be sharing our tips on how you can set and implement personal guidelines and limits in your daily life.
The Benefits of Personal Guidelines and Limits
Having a set of personal guidelines and limits facilitates personal growth by helping you to: discover your needs and priorities; and become aware of how your habits drive your behaviors. By building and implementing a positive and purposeful structure for your life, personal guidelines and limits can also help you to maintain peace and order in your life.

Tips for Establishing Personal Guidelines and Limits
Begin by pinpointing and writing down the areas of your life that need more guidance and structure. A few areas could include your health and fitness, nutrition, relationships, recreation, daily routine, finances, mindset, spirituality, or work or career.
Identify and write down your goals and values.
Write down guidelines and limits that reflect your values and goals. For example, if you value health, a positive guidelines and limit could include keeping healthy meals and snacks at home and on the go and eliminating processed foods as much as possible.
Allow yourself time to adjust to these new guidelines and limits and celebrate each improvement as time passes.
