Motivation Monday: "Time Blocking"

For today's Motivation Monday post, we're sharing a productivity hack called Time Blocking!
What is Time Blocking?
Time blocking is generally defined as a process/method of dividing and scheduling your days into smaller time slots/chunks of time where you focus on one task item during each time slot. This method works for all kinds of tasks – work tasks, cleaning tasks, breaks, exercise, etc. Time blocking is great because it requires you to review your schedule on a weekly basis, prioritize your upcoming tasks, and then determine what to do, how to do it, when to do it, and where to do it.

How to Time Block Your Days
1. Identify what you care most about/what you value/what’s most important to you.
2. Make a to do list of work tasks, personal tasks, home tasks, etc.
3. Determine the best time of day to work on difficult tasks when you have the most amount of energy and focus; this might be during the morning hours for early birds and, alternatively, the night hours for night owls.
4. Use a planner or calendar to block out all hours of your days into chunks of time that you’ll work on your tasks. For example, if having a “slow morning routine” is one of your tasks, you can schedule this task from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on your calendar.
Time Blocking Tips
- Don’t forget to schedule breaks and unforeseen distractions/tasks
- Be as specific as possible by breaking down all of the necessary steps for each task (especially large tasks) and estimate how long it will take you to accomplish each step.
